''The Farm at The Furnace'' is a historic home located in the heart of Rocky Mount, Virginia. The house was built during the late-18th century (est. 1779), and used as the first location where the County was formed. The house was expanded in the 1820s, and heavily remodeled in the Greek Revival style in the mid 1800's. It's a two-story, frame dwelling with high ceilings, heart pine floors and spacious rooms with a total of 8 brick fireplaces. It features a two-story projecting front porch, a large great room with hand hewn beams and oversized fireplace. Later additions were made in the late-19th and early-20th century. There is an adjacent summer kitchen and the site of a farm office location marked by a stone chimney that was used by the Iron Master for the nearby Washington Iron Furnace
